Difference #1: Power Density
Chromotherapy is a wavelength powered through a light bulb through a low power density & red light is the same wavelength delivered through an LED at a high power density.
What is Power Density?
Power density is the amount of power per unit volume. It is typically measured in watts per cubic meter and represents how much power is distributed within a given space. [wikipedia]
Helpful Analogy for Power Density provided by Sunlighten:
For the infrared sauna it is like water coming through a nozzel of a hose with different spray intensities. Chromotherapy would be a mist, Red Light Therapy would be like a jet spray.
Difference #2: Absorption
Chromotherapy is visible light or colored light that is emitted in the form of photons that are absorbed by active receptors in the eyes. Once absorbed proteins are activated at a color specific wavelength to produce various biochemical benefits.
Red Light is visible light that emits photons that are absorbed through the skin at a higher power density. Like near infrared, red light penetrates the outer layer of the skin. When it is absorbed by the body, the light boosts cellular activity to produce various biochemical benefits.
Difference #3: Health Benefits
Chromotherapy has been used for 1000's of years. Chromotherapy affects our emotional and physical balance and well being.
Red Light Therapy: Red Light Therapy can stimulate mitochondria in our cells to produce ATP cellular energy that powers everything we do! It can help stimulate collagen, reduce wrinkles, improve skin tone and firmness, & increase circulation. This has been proven over 1000's of clinical trials.
